Common Faults & Fixes

OC / Over-current trip on start-up

Cause: Motor cable insulation breakdown, contaminated power stage, or incorrect V/f curve

Fix: Megger the motor cable, inspect IGBT gate-driver board, recompute V/f, and functionally test the drive per equipment requirements.

OV / Over-voltage on deceleration

Cause: Regenerative braking on a high-inertia load without a braking resistor, or bad DC-bus caps

Fix: Fit correctly sized dynamic braking resistor, replace dried electrolytic caps, and set deceleration ramp to match load inertia.

Ground fault (GF/EF) at power-on

Cause: Winding-to-frame breakdown, wet junction box, or drive output leakage

Fix: Insulation-test motor at 500V DC, dry and reseal terminal boxes, and replace output IGBT if leakage traces to the power stage.

OH / Overheat trip after 20-30 min run

Cause: Blocked heatsink airflow, clogged filters, or degraded cooling fan

Fix: Clean the heatsink, replace fan(s), verify ambient below 40°C, and re-torque all power terminals to spec.

Loss of speed reference / F0.15 fault (Delta)

Cause: Damaged analog input channel, EMI on the 4-20 mA loop, or shielded-cable ground loop

Fix: Reterminate shield at drive end only, replace opto-isolator, and route control cable in separate tray.

Fuse blown / OC1 on soft-charge

Cause: Failed pre-charge SCR, dry DC-bus cap, or shorted IGBT rail

Fix: Component-test the DC-bus circuit, replace failed SCR + soft-charge resistor, reform caps or replace bank.
